As a San Diego native, Emilia Lopez-Yañez has performed around California with a wide spectrum of musicians. Since receiving her masters degree and graduate certificate in Oboe Performance, she has performed with ensembles including the Pacific Symphony, Pacific Chamber Orchestra City Ballet Orchestra of San Diego, the Pacific Lyric Orchestra, and has performed in various halls across the United States, including Segerstrom Hall, the Lyceum Theater, Musco Center for the Arts, and California Center for the Arts. She has also performed abroad including the Estates Theater, Smetana Hall, Dvorak’s Home, and Teatro Aguascalientes.
As a Grammy member, she has recorded with artists across the globe, incorporating the oboe in various genres of music. Emilia has been a part of albums that have been nominees for the Hollywood Music and Media Awards, and have won Global Music Awards. Through these recordings, she hopes to expand the musical genres in which oboe can be found, including Jewish-Indian fusion, Chill, House, and Children's Music. Lopez-Yañez is a faculty member at Palomar College and MiraCosta College, where she teaches oboe performance while also maintaining her own private studio where she teaches private oboe lessons and reed-making masterclasses online and in-person. Emilia Lopez-Yañez completed her Graduate Certificate in 2020 and Masters in Oboe Performance Degree at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree from Chapman University in 2016. |
