Before moving to Los Angeles, Emilia Lopez-Yañez performed and taught in Orange County and San Diego, CA. There, she performed with Opera NEO, The Chapman Orchestra, and Chapman University Wind Symphony. Since moving to Los Angeles, she has performed with the Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra, Parlor Orchestra, University of Southern California Orchestra, and University of Southern California Wind Symphony.
As a Grammy member, she has recorded with artists across the globe, incorporating the oboe in various genres of music.Emilia has been a part of albums that have been nominees for the Hollywood Music and Media Awards, and have won Global Music Awards. Through these recordings, she hopes to expand the musical genres in which oboe can be found, including Jewish-Indian fusion, Chill, and House.
Lopez-Yañez has performed in various halls across the United States, including Bovard Hall, Royce Hall, Bridges Auditorium, Lyceum Theater, Musco Center for the Arts, and California Center for the Arts. She has also performed abroad including the Estates Theater, Smetana Hall, Dvorak’s Home, and Teatro Aguascalientes.
Emilia Lopez-Yañez recently completed her Master in Oboe Performance Degree at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA under the instruction of Marion Kuszyk and Joel Timm. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree from Chapman University where she studied with Lelie Resnick, Jessica Pearlman, and Paul Sherman.
